Seo, Mets hope to finish strong against Rockies

Colorado (66-94) at NY Mets (82-78), 7:10 pm EDT

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Jae Seo and the New York Mets look to continue their late-season surge when they host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday in the third contest of a four-game weekend series at Shea Stadium.

Since being swept at home by the Washington Nationals two weeks ago, the Mets have won 11 of their last 14 and guaranteed their first winning campaign since 2001.

After posting an 11-0 triumph in Thursday's series opener, New York held on for a 3-2 victory on Friday.

Kris Benson worked 7 1/3 frames to notch the win while Marlon Anderson belted a homer for the Mets, who improved to 3-2 against the Rockies this year.

Seo (7-2, 2.67 ERA) looks to notch his first win in five starts when he takes the mound Saturday. Since tossing seven strong frames to record a victory at Florida on September 4, the Korean righthander has been ineffective over the last four weeks.

Seo yielded four runs and seven hits in just five innings at Philadelphia on Monday. He has been much more effective at Shea Stadium this year, posting a 2.23 ERA in seven starts.

The Rockies counter with rookie Mike Esposito (0-1, 7.71), who will make his third career outing. The righthander yielded five runs in 4 1/3 frames at Atlanta on Monday.
